About Jennifer Purdy
Dr. Purdy is a medical doctor who specializes in evidence-based preventative medicine and has a keen interest in the impacts of climate change on humans and planetary health. She quickly recognized the health risks of COVID-19 and has remained a firm advocate for better prevention and protection of Canadians, young and old, at work and at play, in institutions and in the community, to prevent long-term illness. Jennifer also recognizes the health effects of the ongoing climate crisis and is an advocate for better planning as health needs in Ontario change with the climate.
“We are in an affordability crisis. We have a housing crisis. And, we have a healthcare crisis. These are all thanks in part due to decisions made by the corrupt Ford government. If we don’t kick them to the curb, these issues will only worsen as we are left on our own to deal with Trump tariffs and more. ”
Jennifer is running for the Green Party of Ontario because they put people first. She believes in a fairer Ontario, one that puts people before profits and rebuilds a healthy planet for our children. Jennifer is a passionate defender of human rights for all, in her community, across Canada, and around the world.
Jennifer is an experienced candidate, having run for the Green Party of Canada in Kanata-Carleton in 2019 and 2021. She is also the Defence Critic and past Health Critic in the GPC Shadow Cabinet.
Jennifer spent 23 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, including postings as a family physician in Trenton, Petawawa, and Ottawa, before retiring in 2018. She lives in North Kanata, where she is kept busy by energetic triplets.
